The best time to visit Jodhpur is between October and March, when the desert climate is pleasant and ideal for sightseeing. But every season has its own appeal, and the right time depends on what you want — clear skies and festivals, green landscapes and low prices, or quiet sights and bargains.

Here's how the year breaks down, with the Blue City at its best in each season.

October–March: peak season

Winter offers cool, comfortable days perfect for exploring forts and markets, with clear skies that make the fort and the Blue City glow. This is peak tourist season, so book your stay early. December and January evenings can be chilly, so pack a layer.

If you enjoy festivals, time your visit with the Marwar Festival or the Rajasthan International Folk Festival at Mehrangarh, usually held around October.

April–June: hot but great value

Summers are hot, often very hot by midday, but you'll find far fewer crowds and better room rates. If you visit in summer, sightsee in the early morning and evening, stay hydrated, and retreat to an air-conditioned room in the afternoon. The fort and museums are still rewarding in the cooler hours.

July–September: green & quiet

The monsoon brings cooler air, green hills and full lakes, with short, dramatic showers rather than all-day rain. Crowds are thin and rates are low. It's an underrated, atmospheric time to visit — especially for the lakes, the rock park and post-rain photography.
